You know what's wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You're chicken. You've got no guts. You're afraid to stick out your chin and say, "Okay, life's a fact." People do fall in love. People do belong to each other because that's the only chance anybody's got for real happiness. You call yourself a free spirit, a wild thing. And you're terrified somebody's going to stick you in a cage. Well, baby, you're already in that cage. You built it yourself. It isn't that I give a hoot about jewellery, except diamonds, of course. Of course, personally, I think it would be tacky to wear diamonds before I'm 40.

But I am mad about José. I honestly think I'd give up smoking if he asked me.

Now I've got a wonderful idea. We can spend a whole day doing things we've never done before. We'll take turns. First something you've never done, then me. Of course, I can't really think of anything I've never done.
