— Maybe because they don't make annoying observations.

— Kate is sleeping with my ex-husband.
— And this bothers you?

— You and Todd have been divorced for, like, five years. You... you'd have to figure he'd be seeing somebody.
— Yeah, but Kate?
— What do you got against Kate?
— She's screwing my ex-husband!

— Why is it that you are so comfortable delving into my personal life, and yet, hmm, we never seem to talk about yours?
— Well, that's just our thing, I guess.

— Look, I'm Deputy Chief Medical Examiner. The entire budget of this office is on my shoulders. You keep pulling that crap, I don't care how many friends you have.
— What makes you think I have friends?
— It's true. She doesn't have any.

— You know, you got great instincts
about the dead, Megan. But about the living, you suck.
— I care about the dead because they can't speak for themselves.

— You know, somewhere under all the crap that you're dealing with is a decent person and a good mother. And the only reason that I put up with it is 'cause I'm fairly sure that you won't find her without me.
— That is an incredibly arrogant thing to say.

— Hey. What was that all about this morning at the crime scene? You and Sam... the... the arched eyebrows, the sighing.
— You mean to tell me you didn't notice?
— There was a murder victim to attend to. I think that takes precedence over...whatever it is you're going to tell me.
— Bud's mood? The... the way he was barking at everybody?
— Uh, isn't he always like that?
— Bud is having problems with his wife again.
— I thought he was divorced.
— You know, if you applied that laser focus you have to the people around you, you wouldn't have to ask.

We go home at night, just like everybody else, but we never really stop. You know why? {points to a sign with an inscription in Latin} It means "this is where death rejoicesto teach the living." Every person has something to teach us, and we never stop learning.

— Why is it whenever a man calls a woman a "power player,"it sounds pejorative?
